El ángel bueno

Un año, ya dormido,
Alguien que no esperaba
Se paró en mi ventana.

– ¡Levántate! Y mis ojos
vieron plumas y espadas.

Atràs. Montes y mares,
Nubes, picos y alas,
Los ocasos, las albas.

-¡Mírala ahí! Si sueño,
pendiente de la nada.

-¡Oh anhelo, fijo mármol,
fija luz, fijas aguas
movibles de mi alma!

Alguien dijo: ¡Levàntate!
Y me encontre en tu estancia.

The good angel

One year, as I was sleeping,
Someone I wasn’t expecting
Stopped at my window.

Wake up! And my eyes
saw plumes and swords.

Behind, mountains and seas,
Clouds, beaks and wings,
Sunsets, dawns.

Look at her there! Her dream
hanging from nothing?

O longing, firm marble,
steady light, steadfast moving
waters of my soul.

Someone said: Wake up!
And I found myself in your room.
